train to jammu
10:16 AM
salam alaykum.
tomorrow is ramadhan! yeay! alhamdulillah, hope i can still touchdown ramadhan by this maghrib, insyaAllah. here, in india, we'll start on tuesday, not wedenesday, like in malaysia. because different mazhab. well, less than one month to go home! insyaAllah.
so, i wanna update about our kashmir trip. jammu and kashmir is one of the province in india. the british combined both jammu (india's) and kashmir (single country) in it. so, when india got their independence, they also got the whole kashmir. so, that's the reason why kashmiri people are opposing it. the rest is history.
going to kashmir was truly blessings. i'm really really glad. alhamdulillah. this trip was the climax of our trip and guess what? we stayed there for almost 8 days! in the winter! in the houseboat! well, the only heating system was only in the hall, and electric blanket on the bed. and non-24 hours hot shower. well, we survived, alhamdulillah. :)
since kashmir is so vast and big, i wanna divide this trip into journey in jammu, srinagar, sonamarg and pahalgam.
after our visit to taj mahal, we quickly rushed to kfc to have lunch (kfc in india is halal fyi) before heading to new delhi station to take the train to jammu. the furthest north india train can go is udhampur, which is after station jammu. so, we're going up till the end of the railway. hehe. our train was scheduled at night in 2-ac tiers. so, there will be ac (air-cond) and doublestorey (is this correct?) bed. i thought it will be that good, but then, still glad that there are curtains to cover our bed. so, it's kinda privacy. we will be reaching jammu around 9am. so, we took overnight journey!
our berths were kinda scattered, so we were unable to kumpul2 and chat. plus, nak tido dah pun. so, here, i got upper berthe in which i have no idea who got the lower berth of mine. so, i sat at the lower berth first with my sister. she got the one next to me. malas nak panjat2. so then, the owner came. a very fair indian guy (kasta up la) came and said it was his. and he got his companion, another old man whose berth was below my sis's. we want to move, but then he said.
"it's ok. you sit there. i'll sit here (with the old man under my sis's berth)."
"thanks." my sis replied.
"what's your name by the way?" he asked.
"i'm ain and she is my sister, aida." my sis replied.
"owh, i'm sunny and here's my card." he passed to my sis. sunny xxxx
"nice to meet you." my sis said. he replied the same.
"what's on your head by the way?" he asked me. he's asking about the scarf.
i was nervous. but i smiled. then, my sis replied.
"that's hijab. we are muslims." my sis said.
"why dont you wear it?" he asked my sis. she's not wearing hijab.
"erm, because it depends on the person whether they want to wear it or not." my sis said.
"it's is COMPULSORY for the muslims women to wear it." i added more.
"owh." he nodded.
"are you muslim too?" im asking him.
"no. no. im hindu." sunny said.
and we talked more and more. he opened an international school in patnitop and the old man is his assistant. and he asked whether we should he go when he come to malaysia. discussing about my degree, his degree from new york i think, and blablabla. and they treated us veg briyani and tomato soup in the cold winter! alhamdulillah. however, i forgot about my hungry mum and other friends as well, so i really disappointed with myself. *sighed*
well, it prepared me! to confront the strangers that never heard of islam and never been exposed to muslims. they've been influenced by the bias media and such. well, there were some of my friends who took the 2 days journey on the train from delhi to bangalore. well, i believed that they could share more stories to us! hehe. insyaAllah.
we slept soundly that night, thanks to comfy bed and cold temperature. and i was shivering while taking wudu' for subh prayer, because the water was the one in the fridge! alhamdulillah. after subh, i decided to sit next to window on my lower berth. sunny was not there, he left in patnitop station that subh. the view was subhanallah amazing! green water river, the rocks, mountains from afar, people wore winter clothes, the pine trees! different from typical india huh?
we arrived jammu and there was one young man who greeted me with my name written
"nur eggadi aiba" -.-"
i was so angry and wanna laughed at the same time.
"i'm faruq." mr firdous sent me here.
"where's mr firdous?" i asked. just being cautios.
"he's in srinagar. he's not here." faruq replied.
"here, kashmir car plate cannot be used here. so, we will take this bus until one place then, we took our van to srinagar." he said showing crippled bus. i'm again being skeptical.
"ok." all of us were kinda worried.
then, we hop off the bus and entered a tempo. and take journey from jammu to srinagar from 10am to 7pm. long!! super long. we dozed off in the car and woke up with stunning views from the dangerous road. that's the highway jammu-srinagar. alhamdulillah. so, i'll let the pic said it!
that's all for today, insyaAllah. may Allah bless all of us. :)
