jai-ho jaipur!
12:03 PM
salam alayk.
jaipur was a fascinating place. we love everything about the place, except our tour guide who made everything so rushed for us. :(
but still, alhamdulillah for all the nikmat. since our tour company based in the jaipur and our driver was from jaipur, our 2 nights here were very splendid. even the manager, mr ali decided to make a meeting with us and cherished us. to my surprise, this company was a muslim-family run company. hehe. they were very good to us. and treated us various local food at muhammadi restaurant. dua to our so-rushed tour guide, the main highlights of our tour here is the people here itself.
we talked about many things while waiting for the food, until we reached the islam topic.
"tell me, which cast are you?" mr ali asked us.
"what? we don't know what you're talking about." i said. clueless about his question.
"dont tell me you dont have." mr ali said.
the my sister said, "we dont have any cast rule in malaysia. everyone is same."
then, i got the point, owh, kasta rupanya.
"what? seriously?!" mr ali shocked. mr maulana and mr waseem too, who joined us in the eateries.
"tell me, your family nama. i can figure it out which cast are you." mr ali said.
"mahat. we dont have any lah." my sister said.
"wow, so interesting, here, in india, we have cast system, even for muslims. but our cast is quite high, related too the king advisor. (there is name, but i forgot.)" mr ali explained.
"i hate it so much. but the cast system doesnt applied in the mosque. in mosque, we are all the same. i like it. people of low cast sit and pray together with people of higher cast. but then, once everyone go outside the mosque to separate their own ways, the higher cast people started to boast all over again." mr ali explained more.
without i noticed, there is another chicken on my plate. i looked to the left. mr maulana was smiling at me.
"you eat," he said. i smiled back. thanks. "you eat, too."
then, we asked mr ali,
"have you married?"
"yes, i was. since 12 years old." mr ali answered.
"what?!" all of us almost screamed.
"yeah, my wife is crazy. we've been married since 12 years old. but i started to live with her since 18 years old."
"whoaa..." we were amazed. it was our first time to encounter things like this in india. hee..
"how old are you now?" my sister asked.
"well, try guessing."
"33". he said nothing.. well, we guessed it is correct.
his cousin, waseem was almost 40 and didnt get married yet. he said he want to get malaysian women because they will expand their business there. like seriously? haha.
jaipur people was very nice and friendly. before this conversation, they brought us to the company's shop which distribute sarees to other shop. turned out that we managed to get silk sarees at a very cheap price. hehe. then, they offered us to have kebab in a restaurant.
"well, you treat us, can?" my sister asked them.
"all right. you just eat what you want." we were all grinning. hehe
"that night in jaipur was super cold, only that it didnt snow. our tempo dropped us at local streets, crowded with local who want to eat, we passed by a large wok that fried i-dont-know what, and walking through an alley, before reaching this muhammadi restaurant. and the rest is history. hee..
so, here's the pics.
